This cute little capelette is made of mohair and it's super soft. It was very fast to make and it's a gift for my pregnant sister. I figure she can wear it in the hospital after the baby is born, it'll look glamorous in those first mom and baby pictures.

Check out this blue heron. He claimed that submerged boat in the bay behind Science World. Yet more conclusive evidence that the west coast is, in fact, the best coast.

The Garden is GROWING!!

Look at those sweet peas!! I've been eating them right off the vine mostly, but last night I picked a whole bowlfull and steamed them. Mmmmm, tastes pretty summery.

And here's the rest of garden, with tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, lettuce and much much more.

Work Work and more Work

So in nine days I worked eight of them. And on that one day off Crew Sched called bright and early to ask if I wanted to work even more!

On our way to PVR we flew over the Grande Canyon. Which in the old days would have made everyone on board jump up to take pictures, but instead everyone continued watching world cup soccer or the simpsons on thier personal tvs.

Lucky for me I got to work with Terri, who was loads of fun and made me laugh constantly. At one point we went to offer people coffee and she forgot the coffee! Stupid!! Anyways, there she is offering high quality service with a smile (also, I think she's a little crazy). Yay for Terri!!

You know what sucks about Hawaii? . . . . NOTHING!!!

So how is that for luxury resort lifestyles? To be clear, I would never stay at an all inclusive resort on my own dime, but when 'the man' is paying; well sign me up!!

Here's some more images of my two lovely days in the islands. Mostly Maui, but there some in Honolulu too . . . . enjoy!

Permit me to encourage you all to go there, learn to surf, eat some poi and ride the trollies!!

Storms' a Brewin'

Check out this crazy storm over Grande Prairie! We had to circle before we could land and it got pretty bumpy.

All's well that ends well though, and then the sun came out and it was a perfect prairie day. The sun didn't even set that night, or at least I was asleep before it set.

My garden is just amazing! And it's only May. Here are those peonies, now in full bloom:

And these purple guys just recently showed up, can anyone identify them? It's a vine of some kind. It doesn't really matter, they are pretty spectacular weaving around that clump of mint.

It's very cool how I keep getting surprise blooms every time I go out into the garden.

Look at these peony buds!! Aren't they amazing?! They just come back all fat and sweet every year. And the ants go crazy for them.

Any day now they will be giant flowers.

Can you believe that this is the much maligned East Van?

And these purple clovers were donated last summer by Sylvia. I had totally forgotten about them and then BAM they just popped right out of my planter about a week ago, squeezed out through the primroses, just like that.

And who could that be hiding in the beans & greens?  I do believe that is Irie, waiting, stalking . . . and then when Lysander comes down the stairs. . . POUNCE!! That Irie, he's diabolical!!

Kitty Relations

This is Irie (on the left), he lives upstairs.

He is Lysander's archenemy.

Irie got locked out today and hung around the back porch meowing and rubbing. It really pissed Lysander off.

That's Lysander on the right. He's my wonder kitty and will be 16 years old in August. He does not like other, younger kitties.

Garden Fun

The last few days in Vancouver have been pretty rainy, so no tennis, BUT the garden is flourishing!!

Check out my fennel plant! And the peonies are just about to bloom and when they do it will be a virtual explosion of pink!!

This is evidence that the west coast is the best coast.

Day One

This is the first post in my New BLOG using my awesome new computer that the equally awesome Medi helped my set up!! That's Medi after running a long distance in a short period of time -- he likes that kind of thing.

Also, I went to the wedding of my good buddy Paula to her sweetheart Jason. I made them the blanket you see them enjoying.
